The Bonnyville PONTIACS are extremely excited to announce that 20 year old forward Alden DUPUIS from Edmonton, Alberta has committed to the NCAA Division 1 Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2017/18 season.
Head Coach Rick SWAN says “Alden is extremely deserving of his NCAA Division 1 commitment and we are so proud of his accomplishment. Alden is one of the smartest players I have ever coached and would be the most coachable player any coach would have had the pleasure of working with. He is a highly intelligent player with a great understanding of the game. His compete level is second to none and his first three steps are exceptional. Along with his outstanding ‘battle’ level Alden plays PP, PK, and every important situation. He is very difficult to play against because of his exceptional puck protection skills and can play in any ‘skill, speed, compete’ role offensively and defensively.” “Alden DUPUIS is a high character person with an exceptional family and the R.I.T. Tigers program are getting themselves an immediate 'culture building' individual because of what Alden will bring their program both on and off the ice.”
In 169 games as a PONTIACS Alden has scored 128 points and has served as the team’s Assistant Captain for the past two seasons.
The RIT Tigers men's ice hockey team is located in suburban Rochester, New York and competes in the Division I Atlantic Hockey conference. The team has won two national championships, one each at the Division II and Division III levels. It lost in the semi-finals of the Division I “Frozen Four” in 2010.
The Bonnyville PONTIACS, our community, our great fans and or amazing sponsors congratulate Alden on his scholarship and wish him continued success for the remainder of this year and with the R.I.T. Tigers next season.
Alden DUPUIS becomes the 38th player who played with the Bonnyville PONTIACS since 2012/13 who have committed to college (NCAA, CIS, ACAC).
