Analyzing Skills and Never Forgetting the Why!

Last night Coach SWAN and Coach DRAPER spent an evening with minor hockey coaches in the Lakeland area talking about “A Perspective on Analyzing Skills,” “Drill Building,” and the “Importance of the Why” with coaches involved in youth hockey.

Some great information was shared from the experiences Rick and Larry have gained with being involved both at the minor and Junior A levels.

Topics included:

1. Analyzing Skills

2. Drill Building

3. The Importance of the “Why” for all coaches

When it comes to fostering a youth athlete’s love for hockey, there may be no one more influential than their coach. Coaches have a tremendous opportunity to make a positive impact in making the rink “the destination” for every player every day. Whether it is helping players develop their skills, using situations to teach life lessons or simply sharing their own love of the game, coaches should strive to create a fun, positive atmosphere that will leave a lasting impression on today’s youth hockey players.

Rick and Larry are always privileged to be involved with minor hockey coaches and share their knowledge and experiences.
