The Bonnyville PONTIACS held its Annual AGM on July 21, 2014 where a number of changes were made to the Executive and Board.
Long term president Don SYDORA stepped down to become the “Past President” and longtime board member Jim MARTINEAU was voted in as his successor.
Also leaving the Board is Carol VASSEUR as Secretary. On behalf of the Bonnyville PONTIACS I would like to take the opportunity to thank Carol for her exceptional commitment to the organization during her tenure.
Carol leaves as the organization's Secretary and her commitment and input to the Board has made a significant contribution towards the growth of the Bonnyville PONTIACS and her involvement truly made a lasting difference.
Staying with the Board are Vice President Steve WOJCIK, Mark JENSEN (who will assume the position of Treasurer for Ron RUSNAK), Ron RUSNAK, Ed MERCIER, Gene SOBOLEWSKI, Chad EMIGH and Marc CROTEAU.
New to the Board are Bren ALTON, who is the current General Manager at JMB Crushing and Candace VASSEUR, who is our current Billet Coordinator. The Bonnyville PONTIACS welcome both Bren and Candace.
Our new President Jim MARTINEAU is no stranger to volunteering to help make a positive change in our community and for the Bonnyville PONTIACS. Volunteering for Jim is like a full time job for anyone else. Head Coach and General Manager Rick SWAN says that “Jim is at the rink every day and at every team function and he does more administration and maintenance work associated to helping a hockey club than anyone I have ever witnessed.”
Even though Jim is the current President of the Bonnyville Professional Rodeo and Chuckwagon Association he never allows anything to take a ‘back seat’ to what he does for the PONTIACS.
“Jim MARTINEAU is also quick to offer those around him with strong life lessons relayed from his experience as a firefighter – lessons which help reinforce the tremendous value of citizenship. He makes choices with integrity so that the right decisions are made for the right reasons. I know of very few people who could maintain such a high level of accomplishment and positive energy towards making a sincere difference for the organizations that he helps out than Jim MARTINEAU.”
“Jim MARTINEAU is invaluable for the Bonnyville PONTIACS (and the many other organizations that he dedicates his time to) and for him, important tasks required are done yesterday.”
The Bonnyville PONTIACS look forward to working with their new President Jim MARTINEAU.
