Congratulations to Ryan SYMINGTON – Commits to Portage College Voyageurs

The Bonnyville PONTIACS are happy to announce that captain Ryan SYMINGTON has committed to Portage College (ACAC) for next season to continue his academic and hockey career. The 20 year-old Team Captain is a three year veteran of the Alberta Junior Hockey League and led the Pontiacs to a third consecutive top four finish in the 2016-2017 Viterra AJHL North Division Standings.  The Mannville, Alberta native was fifth in team scoring in his final year with the PONTIACS with 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists) and recorded 3 game winning goals for our team.

Ryan Symington also was the winner of the AJHL Don McNabb Memorial Trophy as the Most Dedicated Player for 2016-2017.

Pontiacs GM / Head Coach Rick Swan believes his Captain is truly deserving of this recent commitment. “Ryan is someone who best represents his team, his community and our league through his character, positive attitude, dedication, leadership and combines a high sense of athletic ability with professionalism both on and off the ice. Ryan Symington embodies these traits by being a leader by example and whatever expectations he has of others he first expects it from himself. He holds himself to a high standard both on and off the ice in order to represent our organization and the AJHL in a manner beyond reproach.”

The V's program are instantly better both on and off the ice with Ryan and our organization and our fans couldn't be happier for the entire SYMINGTON family. Ryan had a great career with the PONTIACS and it is outstanding that he will be continuing his college hockey in the Lakeland area.

Ryan SYMINGTON becomes the 47th player to have played with the PONTIACS since 2013/14 to commit to play at the college level.
