Emma Jonker

Born in Calgary, AB and raised in Bonnyville, Emma Jonker officially signed on as the Pontiacs multimedia & photography coordinator for the 2025-26 season.

Emma has been involved with the team since 2021, starting out as a volunteer where she helped in a variety of areas, including assisting the athletic therapists. Jonker had plans to pursue a career in athletic therapy, but along the way discovered a passion for photography that shifted her path in a new direction.

During her time at SAIT, where she earned a diploma in Fitness and Wellness Management, Emma worked as a photographer, further developing her creative eye and technical skills.

Self taught and using her phone or any aging cameras she could get her hands on; Emma began her artistic journey helping the Pontiacs with gameday media & photography during the 2023-24 season in between her classes at SAIT.

By the start of the 2024-25 campaign, Jonker took a chance on herself and purchased her very own high-end camera, working tirelessly to hone her craft while falling further in love with capturing the energy and emotion of the game.

Since then, Emma has had the opportunity to help shoot several Western Hockey League (WHL) games and Hockey Canada events, expanding her experience to a higher level of the sport. Emma has also been selected as the lead photographer for the upcoming 2026 Alberta Winter Games, hosted in Bonnyville/Cold Lake and the surrounding Lakeland region.

A former athlete herself, Emma is a 2A provincial champion with the Notre Dame Wildcats, an experience that makes the Bonnyville community especially close to her heart. She is also a certified Personal Trainer, giving her a strong understanding of athletic performance and the importance of capturing those defining moments.

A proud Flames fan and lifelong hockey lover, Emma now focuses on telling athletes stories, one photo at a time.
