Pontiacs Defensemen Quinton Gove has announced his commitment to Amherst College as of Monday, March 20th, 2023.
Gove is now the Pontiacs’ 10th Commitment on the roster and the 6th to commit this season.
“I’d say the academics there are second to none so that was a huge factor in committing to Amherst,’ said Gove. “They also have a really good hockey program and they field a competitive team almost every year.”
“I think next year they have a real chance to make the NCAA Tournament. They’re returning almost all of their forwards and adding a couple of players so I am really excited.”
The 02 Ypsilanti, MI native joined the Pontiacs back in November. “I definitely wouldn’t have this opportunity without the Pontiacs. I think it’s really a first class organization’, noted Quinton Gove.
“From the day to day operations with Banger [Neil Langridge, Associate GM ], to Chad [Nelson, Associate GM] being pivotal with helping me get in contact with these schools, and Mario [Pouliot, Head Coach] and Caddy [Connor Cadaret, Assistant Coach] have helped me become a better player both on and off the ice.”
Gove has recorded three goals and 15 assists for 18 points this season with the Pontiacs. As the first round of the 2022-23 AJHL Playoffs is now underway, Gove has cemented himself as a name stay on the Pontiacs blue line as a respected two-way defensemen.
“My high school coach Clint Robert was pivotal in helping me get to where I am today. But without a doubt, I wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for my parents and not only for the sacrifices they’ve made to get me to this point in my hockey career, but also to continually give me the opportunity to play the game I love.”
With the first four games of the 2023-24 AJHL playoffs out of the way, Quinton Gove has produced two goals and one assist giving him three points in four games.

The Amherst College Mammoths are a division III team located in Amherst, Mass. and plays in the NESCAC Conference.
The Pontiacs’ next game is Friday, March. 28th at 7:00pm against the Whitecourt Wolverines at the Safety Scott Centre in Whitecourt, AB. This will be Game one of the second round in the 2022-23 playoffs and Gove’s first game as a committed College hockey player.
