MARROCCO Commits to the Arizona State University Sun Devils

The Bonnyville PONTIACS would like to take the opportunity to congratulate twenty year old forward P.J. MARROCCO on his commitment to the NCAA Division 1 Arizona State Sun Devils for 2018/19. P.J. will be joining PONTIAC greats Steenn and Brinson PASICHNUK and fellow teammate Derek BROWN next season.

It was a very successful signing day for ASU hockey that saw the Sun Devils land PJ Marrocco from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League who committed Monday.

MARROCCO sent out the following tweet: “I am beyond proud to announce my commitment to play D1 hockey with @SunDevilHockey. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, friends and family for all their support. #SunDevils.”

A team that is already jam-packed with youth, the Sun Devils will continue the trend of having a large crop of young talent for seasons to come.

Marrocco has spent the last two years playing for the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL where he has racked up 85 points (48 G, 37 A) in just 81 games.

For the second consecutive week PJ Marrocco @BPontiacs has been honored the @CanaltaHotels AJHL Player of the Week — TheAJHL (@TheAJHL) November 13, 2017.

In addition, Marrocco this season serves as an alternate captain on the Pontiacs.

With young players like Marrocco set to come in next season and and just two players set to graduate, Arizona State’s future in hockey could certainly be on the upswing.

“I can't thank the Bonnyville PONTAICS enough for the confidence they have given me and the opportunity to play at the next level. I know that hard work and determination is everything but without the PONTAICS believing in me and giving me the chance to develop, Iwould not have this great opportunity.”

MARROCCO is the 48th player to have committed to the college level since 2013/14.
