The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs are looking for a motivated & outgoing individual to fill the brand new role of In-Arena Host for the 2024/2025 Season.
The Pontiacs have been a member of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the past 32 seasons. This is a fast-paced work environment that encourages equal opportunity and is teamwork oriented. The successful applicant will report to the Marketing & Gameday Director.
Overview:
This is a part-time paid position to be the new face of the Pontiacs entertainment offering for all 26 home games on the RJ Lalonde Arena Jumbotron and in-house speakers.
This includes being the visible host at Pontiacs home games as well as any requested community, fan, or sponsor events approved under the supervision of the Marketing & Gameday Director.
The In-Arena Host is responsible for running and executing gameday promotions and events as directed.
The Arena hosts primary function is to provide fan engagement through live gameday interactions and aiding in the creation of an elite entertainment offering to fans, players, volunteers, and sponsors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Marketing & Gameday Director, the Arena host will execute all on-ice and in-crowd
promotions, both sponsored and unsponsored, as set forth in the game-by-game script during Pontiac home games.
• The host will appear in public as one of the voices of the Bonnyville Pontiacs at all home games, as well as requested ••community and sponsored events. These elements include potential interviews with players, coaches, or Hockey ••Operations staff. This also includes positively interacting with the community at all requested community events.
• The host will abide by all AJHL rules and procedures and follow the requests of Pontiacs staff and sponsors.
• Other duties as applicable with the growing Pontiacs Entertainment Division & desired career path for the accepted ••applicant.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrate a strong on-camera presence, highlighting poise, professionalism, approachability, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Creative and innovative personality with ability to quickly adapt to new situations.
• Can create positive energy using both voice and body language.
• Knowledge of AJHL hockey rules and regulations is a bonus.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays, if necessary.
• Self-starter, dedicated, and highly-motivated.
• Ability to take feedback and positively adapt to the situation.
• Present yourself in a professional manner while in public and while working with internal staff. This includes all social ••media platforms.
• Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Demonstrate dedication with the ability to handle projects from origin through execution.
• Willingness to learn and able to flourish in a high growth, dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Compensation will be based on a per game basis.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are a proud member of the prestigious 12-team Alberta Junior Hockey League.
The AJHL is one of nine leagues that constitute the 117-team Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), which is known as one of the world’s premiere player development leagues for NCAA Hockey.
NHL rosters from the 2021-2022 season included 69 NHL players who were CJHL alums.
Notable former and full time NHL players from the Pontiacs include but are not limited to: Jon Kalinski, Fernando Pisani, Mark Letestu, Justin Fontaine, and Bobby McMann.
Since the Pontiacs’ inception in Bonnyville Alberta 32 seasons ago, the team has produced a total of 10 NHL Players and are averaging one NHL Player every three or so years.
The Pontiacs organization is deeply dedicated to the development of it’s players, staff, and community.
In the last 5 years, the Pontiacs have advanced former coaching staff such as TJ Millar & Mario Pouliot directly into professional coaching roles as an assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL, and the Head Coach of HC Sierre of the Swiss League respectively.
