Congratulations to Dr. Gordon HUNTER on the unveiling of his new book “The Older I Get, The Better I Was.” Dr. HUNTER is the father of our very own play-by-play announcer and Board Member Robb HUNTER.
Dr. HUNTER started collecting stories over the years about guys playing hockey who never made it very far in the game but have a undeniable passion about the sport that our country loves so much. There are books about Gordie HOWE and Ron MacLEAN and Ken DRYDEN and those books are good books, but there aren't any books about normal folks and their experience with hockey when they're growing up, says Dr. HUNTER, who is already the author of four academic books. “When I told my younger son Robb he said 'finally, a book that someone will read.”
Dr. HUNTER wore one of his favorite team's jerseys (Bonnyville PONTIACS) at his book launch. All proceeds from Dr. HUNTER's book will go to Kidsport which promotes an opportunity for all kids to play sports and not being able to participate because of the costs involved. Kidsport is a national non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to children who want to play sports.
