Bonnyville Pontiacs 2022-23 schedule release

The Bonnyville Pontiacs 2022-23 season schedule is now released.

The Alberta Junior Hockey League announced all the dates for the upcoming hockey season on Wednesday, including the exhibition schedule, AJHL Showcase, and key matchups throughout the 60 game regular season.

The Pontiacs begin the exhibition campaign against the Battlefords North Stars of the SJHL on August 31.

The regular season begins on September 16 as the Yaks travel to Grande Prairie for the weekend.

The home opener is Friday, September 23 against the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

The following week is the AJHL Showcase and the Pontiacs will kickoff the games in Blackfalds with a battle against the Drumheller Dragons on Thursday, September 29, while also seeing the Okotoks Oilers on Friday.

Other key home dates include:

  • Saturday, September 24 first home game vs Spruce Grove Saints
  • Sunday, December 4 first home game vs the Lloydminster Bobcats
  • Saturday, January 7 vs the Brooks Bandits

The regular season concludes Friday, March 3 with a home game vs the Grande Prairie Storm.

The 2023 AJHL Playoffs begin March 10th.

Other key notes:

  • The AJHL will implement a four-man referee system at all AJHL regular season and playoff games in the 2022-23 season
  • The league will also introduce a pilot program for video review on goals at several AJHL arenas across the province. The program will be reviewed at the midpoint of the season for the purpose of expanding and adapting the program.
