From volunteer to full-time office manager, Jennaca Haggerty is quickly becoming an integral part of the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to work for a hockey team,” said Jennaca Haggerty. “I saw an opportunity to showcase my skills, knowledge and love for hockey and I haven’t looked back.”
Haggerty first joined the team as a volunteer in 2023, bartending in the Yak Shack during Pontiacs games. In 2024, Jennaca took her contributions to another level and became one of the teams most reliable volunteers. She mostly continued to help in the Yak Shack, but also began helping at the front gate and choosing to stay late to help cleanup after games.
“Starting as a volunteer, I just wanted to help the team and be around the rink”, said Haggerty. “It’s been a lot of hard work, late nights and early mornings, but it’s always been fun and challenging.”
Her tireless effort did not go unnoticed and in December of 2024, she was offered a part-time job as the Pontiacs new gameday assistant. One year later, after the departure of the teams previous office manager due to health issues, Jennaca was named the interim office manager as a trial run.
“When Jennaca came on as a volunteer you could see her work ethic and passion for the organization,” said vp of business operations Neil Langridge. “When the position opened up we already knew those skills would translate to the office manager role.
“She has adapted quickly to her position and is excelling which is a big plus for the Bonnyville Pontiacs Day to Day operations.”
With the office manager position being modernized this offseason, Haggerty will now be the teams primary volunteer coordinator, oversee all bar and merchandise operations and assist with gameday events. She will also continue handling day to day admin operations.
“I’m really excited to get started,” said Haggerty. “I can’t wait to be apart of the gameday’s again and now help coordinate them. I’m excited to see the fans, billets and volunteers in the stands all watching and cheering on the players. There is no where else I’d rather be.
“I would like to give a shoutout to my mom for being my biggest supporter and believing in me even when I didn’t. I also want to thank the entire Pontiacs staff for the constant support and making me feel like part of the team since day one.”
