Cold Lake local Andrea Huck joins the Bonnyville Pontiacs as the organization’s new Athletic Therapist & Trainer for the 2026-2027 season.
Huck is a Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, bringing an extensive background in athlete care, injury rehabilitation and sports medicine with a Bachelor of Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College. She also holds a Graduate Degree in Professional Kinesiology and Bachelor of Kinesiology from Lakehead University, along with current First Responder/BLS certification.
“I think it’s important to try and take things one day at a time and be present, but I’m excited for some good competitive hockey and a healthy season,” said Andrea Huck. “After moving to Alberta, I knew hockey was my career path in Athletic Therapy.
“Cold Lake is now my second home, so naturally when the Pontiacs opportunity came up, I knew I had to jump on a career in high level, competitive hockey close to home. I’m looking forward to working with these high level athletes and can’t wait to get started.”
During her education, Huck worked with Sheridan College Athletics, helping oversee the health and safety of approximately 100 football and rugby student-athletes. In the role, Huck was responsible for injury treatment and rehabilitation, preventative care and more, working closely with coaches and the athletic therapy staff to help athletes remain healthy and prepared to compete.
Additionally, Huck brings several years of experience working within competitive team environments to the Pontiacs, including three seasons as a Head Student Trainer with Lakehead University Athletics. There, she helped provide care for approximately 150 student-athletes while assisting with rehabilitation and coordinating a staff of 12 trainers.
“Right from the start, it was clear that this year’s staff and organization value professionalism, creativity and a strong sense of community,” said Huck. “It’s not just about the game; it’s about the culture around it.
“It sounds like there is a great group of guys coming in that will work hard and make my job of keeping them all healthy easy and I’m looking forward to an exciting season of good hockey.”
While completing her education, Huck also joined Medical Diagnostic & Consulting in 2021 as a cardio technician & administrative assistant, remaining with the organization until 2026.

Huck’s combination of hands-on athlete care, emergency response experience and history working alongside coaches and support staff will translate directly into the daily demands of supporting Pontiacs players throughout practices, games for the 2026-27 season.
