PONTIACS Embrace Volunteering In the Community

The Bonnyville PONTIACS are extremely proud and excited to be associated with the Town of Bonnyville and help 'give back' and volunteer their time by doing their small part  towards being a part of making a difference in the community. The Bonnyville PONTIACS players are encouraged to volunteer their time towards community events and take an active role in Reading, Anti- Bullying & Drug Awareness Programs, and Education Literacy Programs.

So far this year players have been involved in the playground set up and pre-construction at Dr. BROSSEAU School and the Northern Lights DUCLOS School Literacy Night working with students in a number of Literacy Activities such as “Sight Word Bingo,” “Reading Buddies Station,” “Make a Bookmark Station,” “Book Exchange” and “Sight Word Dancing.”

Upcoming volunteer events for the PONTIAC players will be the “C-School Initiative” which is an educational program focused on engaging students in the Lakeland area from grades 3 to 7 in experiential learning activities. C-School conveniently makes its home at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre. There is a unique partnership between the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, the Bonnyville Centennial Centre, the Northern Lights School Division and local oil and gas partners who allow C-School to exist and lend a close connection to hockey and the Bonnyville PONTIACS.

Also in October the PONTIACS will be involved in the Town of Bonnyville's Halloween Cross Walk Patrol which is a safety initiative assisting local youth and families at major intersections on Halloween night.
