SWAN Commits to the N.A.I.T. Ooks

Bonnyville PONTIAC fourth year defenseman Redford SWAN has committed to join the NAIT Ooks of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference for the 2014/15 season.  Redford has the record for the second most games ever played in a Bonnyville PONTIAC uniform with 215 in addition to his 20 playoff games starting from the 2010/11 season.

Redford SWAN plays hard, key minutes on the back end against the other team’s best players ‘night in and night out’ and he plays in all key situations. Over the course of his AJHL career he has scored 14 goals and 52 assists along with 337 penalty minutes.

Redford was named the PONTIACS Top Defenseman the last two seasons (2012/13 and 2013/14) presented annually to the Bonnyville PONTIAC defenseman who demonstrates, throughout the season, the greatest all-round ability at that position.

Redford, a Sherwood Park native, has been an assistant captain the past two seasons as well and will bring an instant presence to coach Serge LAJOIE’s squad next season in all situations.

PONTIACS Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager Larry DRAPER says,  “Redford is a student of the game and his character and coachability are off the charts. He is a leader on the ice, in our dressing room and in our community. Redford has all the necessary hockey skills and leadership attributes to be a top player at the College level and he will be a very successful person in life.”

The Bonnyville PONTIACS wish Redford SWAN all the very best in both his academic and hockey endeavors and congratulate him on his commitment to N.A.I.T.

Redford SWAN becomes the sixth Bonnyville PONTIAC player so far this season committed to College joining Locke MULLER – N.A.I.T. / A.C.A.C., T.J. CUNNINGHAM – S.A.I.T. / A.C.A.C., Dan WEDMAN – Cornell / ECAC Division 1, Spencer FOO – Union / ECAC Division 1 and Sean MOSTROM – Denver / NCHA Division 1.
