Luke Albert Named the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

Defenceman Luke Albert of the Bonnyville Pontiacs is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.  Luke had 4 points in two significant victories over divisional rivals battling at the top of the North Division standings.

The Pontiacs stole a 2-1 OT victory in Spruce Grove on Friday night with Albert recording his 32nd assist of the year in the opening goal of the game.  The top two teams in the division met on Saturday night, with Albert and the Pontiacs taking a 4-1 win over Sherwood Park.  Luke scored a goal and two assists in the win and now sits third in team scoring with 44 points (10G, 34A).  

The Brown University commit is fourth overall in scoring among AJHL defencemen, second among North Division defencemen. Albert, 20, has recorded points in six of the last seven games with the Pontiacs posting a 6-1 record over that same period.

Bonnyville sits atop the North Division standings with eight regular season games remaining and is guaranteed home ice advantage in Round One of the 2019 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs.

Luke becomes the third PONTIAC this season to be named Defensive Player of the Week joining Jeremy Gervais and Colby Muise.
