Ryan BLACK Commits to Northern Michigan University

Second year PONTIAC defenseman Ryan BLACK has committed to the Northern Michigan University WILDCATS for the 2016 season. Ryan BLACK, from Stillwater, Minnesota came to the PONTIACS last season from the Hill-Murray PIONEERS in the Minnesota High School League. Ryan was the PONTIACS Rookie of the Year last season and scored 9 goals and 18 assists in 57 games. Ryan was also named to the Alberta Junior Hockey League's All-North Rookie Team last season and was named the AJHL Player of the Week in September of 2014. Ryan is currently tied for first in points by a defenseman in the AJHL with 5 goals and 27 assists. 

The Northern Michigan University WILDCATS are a Division 1 NCAA program in the WCHA Conference located in Marquette, Michigan.

The Bonnyville PONTIACS organization, it's fans, and the entire Bonnyville PONTIAC community are proud of and would like to congratulate Ryan for the accomplishment he has earned.

PONTIACS GM/Head Coach Rick SWAN said, “Ryan possess an elite compete level and he is an incredibly driven individual who comes to the rink every day to improve his game. Over the last two years Ryan has made some outstanding strides with respect to becoming a complete player and his development is a testament to his hard work. Ryan comes from an extremely supportive family and as good a player as Ryan is, he is even a better person.”

The PONTIACS organization is very excited for Ryan and proud of him being awarded with a scholarship to Northern Michigan University.

Ryan BLACK is the seventh PONTIAC player since 2014 to be awarded an NCAA Division 1 scholarship.
