Seeking Assistant Coach Position – Bonnyville PONTIACS

Under the direct supervision of the Bonnyville PONTIACS Head Coach and General Manager Rick SWAN, the Assistant Coach position will assist and support with the operations of the program.

Tasks will include:

  • Assisting the head coach with the organization, administration and implementation of hockey operations
  • Assist the head coach with training and practice sessions (morning practices)
  • Lead Skill Sessions for our players
  • Assist the head coach with game day planning (60 regular season game schedule plus 5 exhibition games)
  • Assist the head coach with daily team and player development
  • Assist the head coach and General Manager and support staff with identifying, recruiting and selecting quality junior caliber players throughout North America
  • Lead or assist with video sessions: team and individual video
  • Promote and maintain good working relationships with our support staff, other teams and league personnel, parents, sponsors, billet families and others who are integral in the operations of our organization
  • Assist in the planning, organization and execution of the PONTIACS Spring Training Camps
  • Work with our Billet Liaison Coordinator to manage player placement and ongoing billet family support
  • Oversee the education needs of our players in high school and those in our S.A.T. Prep. Program
  • Assist fundraising initiatives with our Business Operations Manager
  • Assist the Business Operations Manager with the coordination of community events / activities to help build and maintain presence in the community
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High Performance Level 1 coaching certification
  • Hockey Canada Safety and Respect in Sport Program certification
  • Experience with setting up, marking, editing and breaking down video footage – Team and Individual (Game Breaker Video software system preferred)
  • A Criminal Record Check will be asked
  • Post- Secondary or professional playing experience is considered an asset
