The Bonnyville Pontiacs are very excited to announce that forward Alex Danis has committed to the Hamilton College Continentals (NCAA Division 3) for Coach Rob Haberbusch and his staff.
“I’m excited to be going to such a prestigious college like Hamilton College and hopefully succeed academically, as well as being able to play high-level hockey – it’s going to be exciting for the next four years,” said Danis.
The 2001-born forward from Calgary was acquired by the Bonnyville Pontiacs in January. In 13 games with the Yaks, Danis has collected 2 goals and 4 assists, while also playing on the Pontiacs’ special teams.
Alex Danis becomes the 103rd player who has played for the Pontiacs bound to play college hockey since the 2013/14 season and is the team’s 8th player with an NCAA commitment on this year’s current roster.
“Alex is not only a veteran leader on our team, he is also a great teammate and respected mentor in our dressing room,” said Pontiacs Head Coach Rick Swan.
“He has all the abilities to become a top end NCAA player and it is great to see him rewarded for his hard work both on and off the ice. Alex is a great role model and he comes to the rink everyday with the mindset of being the very best player and person that he can be. Simply put, he is a great person with a high level of intensity and burning drive to help his team win. It is a pleasure to work with him everyday and I am extremely excited about his opportunity to play for the Hamilton Continentals next season,” continued Swan.
The Continentals play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference located in Clinton, New York. The NESCAC is known for its higher education and Hamilton College is one of the frontrunners in academics and athletics among colleges in the United States.
Alex Danis will join Pontiac alums Sean Thomson and Scott Mckenzie with the Continentals. The Pontiacs are extremely excited for Alex and his commitment is so merited.
