Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Max Seguin has announced his commitment to Princeton University as of Monday, March 6th, 2023.
“The Pontiacs organization is beyond excited for Max on his commitment to Princeton,’ said associate general manager Neil Langridge. ”
Seguin joined the Pontiacs after being acquired in a deal with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL back in September. Max Seguin is now the 10th Pontiac on the roster to commit to a Division I school.
“Max continued to build the strong ties between the Pontiacs and St Andrew’s College program where many Pontiacs have come before him. We are excited to watch Max continue his development and grow with our organization.”
“Max has worked extremely hard all season long to achieve his goals. He has had a very impressive rookie season both on and off the ice. This is just the icing on the cake for him to secure his commitment to such a prominent school.” said Neil Langridge.
The 04 Orleans, ON native produced 26 goals and 35 assists for 61 points in 58 games this season. As a result, Seguin finished the regular season 3rd in points for the Pontiacs, only behind Rookie of the Year Nico Beaudoin and vet Matteo Giampa.
“Princeton was the right choice for many reasons, the obvious ones being the academic reputation and the quality of the hockey program,” said Seguin.
The Princeton University Tigers are an Ivy League division I team located in Princeton, NJ and play in the ECAC Conference. Seguin joins Kirk Lamb and becomes just the second Pontiac to commit to Princeton University in franchise history.
“My journey so far has highlighted the importance of appreciating the moment. So many amazing people have supported me along the way including my coaches, billets, and the yaks management team.” said Seguin.
“The Pontiacs organization has provided me the opportunity to further develop my skills and I have been fortunate to play with fantastic teammates throughout the course of the year.”
“As I look forward, my focus is on the playoffs and winning a championship in Bonnyville.”
Pontiacs head coach Mario Pouliot stated “It’s great news for Max and well deserved. Max has a great work ethic, good hockey sense, and a high compete level.”
“He plays a strong 200 feet game. Hard work and smart work always pays off and Max is a great example of that.”
The Pontiacs’ start off round one of the playoffs at home on March 10th & 11th for games one & two against the Lloydminster Bobcats.
