Tyler PODGORENKO Commits to Red Deer

The Bonnyville Junior ‘A’ PONTIACS are proud to announce that 20-year old defenseman Tyler PODGORENKO has committed to the Red Deer College Kings Men's Hockey team for the 2017-18 season.

Tyler is from Nelson, British Columbia and was acquired from the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before joining the Bonnyville PONTIACS for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.  Tyler has played a total of 138 junior 'A' games, scoring 23 goals and 46 assists for a total of 69 points.  Head Coach and General Manager Rick SWAN stated, “Tyler was a great acquisition for our team and is not only an outstanding player that works hard to improve himself every day, he is a first-class person who made a positive impact in our community in his short time with us.” We couldn't be happier for Tyler to continue his academic and hockey career in an excellent program like Red Deer.

The Bonnyville PONTIACS Organization would like to wish both Tyler and his family the best in his future academic and athletic endeavors.

Tyler PODGORENKO joins teammates Derek BROWN, Alden DUPUIS and Jake GRESH obtaining college commitments already this season and becomes the 40th player since 2014 to play for the PONTIACS to advance their hockey (and academic) career at the next level from junior 'A.'
